Introduction to Jazz by the Kemyndable Flute Trio In-Person
When you think of Jazz, perhaps the first instrument that comes to mind is the saxophone. However the flute with its ability to play lyrically and swiftly, is also very adept in making a jazz tune sing and swing. In this lecture/concert we play and discuss Jazz works from a wide range of sources and historical periods, making this program a particularly good introduction to the history of Jazz. We will play Jazz arrangements of traditional folk and popular songs, as well Jazz standards by composers such as George Gershwin, and Duke Ellington and recently composed music specifically written for Flute Trio.
About the Kemyndable Flute Trio:
The Kemyndable Flute Trio (pronounced "Commendable") is one of Orange County's newest and most unique chamber ensembles. Our oddly spelled name is formed by rearranging the letters in our names, Amy, Deb, and Ken. We have been playing together since 2012 in several ensembles including the Symphonic Band for the State University of NY-Orange, the Maybrook Wind Ensemble, and The Party of Four Quartet.
